Where did April go!?

As I try to catch up to this blog I will just add captions to all the photographs I found!! Hopefully they will give a good overview of what we've done this past month!

We studied fact and opinion. We used our learning about butterflies to write our own fact and opinion statements.

Cutting out of ads to practice estimating and adding money.

Area robots. The kids created robot and calculated the area of each body part and the total area of their robot.

Each student chose a famous American to research and write a biography about.
Our 5th grade buddies came down to listen to the biography reports.

Lots of SSR. We're becoming GREAT readers!!

For St. Patrick's day the students did Lucky Charms graphs

One of our favorite things, writing on desks!
The kids were creating lists of words that are capitalized.

Animal research! Each child took their research and wrote a nonfiction book about their animal.

Character Traits. After studying character traits each child drew a picture of themselves and wrote their own character traits.

Students have been using iPad during our literacy and math rotations. After they listen to a Brainpop Jr. or read a news article they write up what they learned that day.

Word Sorts! These help with reading unknown words as well as spelling skills.

Using computers for research

Releasing our butterflies!

Kids had to write a "how to" before they planted their seeds.
Seed planting!

Practicing cursive letters. We know all of our lowercase letters now!

Cursive letter concentration

Reading with Ty's grandpa

Our guest reader and the class!
